Duke senior guard Jasmine Thomas has been named to the first unit of the All-ACC women’s basketball team, the only Triangle-area player named to the first five.
Thomas was named to the first five for the second straight year.
Others on the first unit include Boston College’s senior center Carolyn Swords, who gained ACC post-season honors in all of her four years; Miami’s junior guard Shenise Johnson, chosen to the first unit for the second straight season; Miami junior guard Riquna Williams; and Florida State’s junior post Cierra Bravard.
N.C. State’s junior forward Bonae Holston and UNC’s senior guard Italee Lucas were named to the second unit, while Duke’s senior center Krystal Thomas is on the third.
The five honorable mention selections, each of whom got at least 15 votes from the Blue Ribbon Panel, are all local: Duke’s Chelsea Gray, N.C. State’s Marissa Kastanek and UNC’s Jessica Breland, Laura Broomfield and Cetera DeGraffenreid.
In other ACC post-season news, Virginia’s Ariana Moorer was named the league’s Sixth Player of the Year in a vote of league coaches.
