Duke hosts Terps, State hosts Clemson, UNC visits Ga. Tech as ACC women's play starts tonight

Jasmine Thomas has taken over in the final minutes to give Duke a pair of recent wins.

The ACC opens conference play in women’s basketball tonight, with two of the three area teams at home and all of them trying to extend winning streaks.

No. 3 Duke, No. 8 UNC and N.C. State will all be favorites, although none of their assignments could be described as easy.

Duke (14-0), which has recently made a habit of last-minute heroics to win at home, will play at home against bitter rival No. 18 Maryland (13-1), which is on a 12-game winning streak of its own. The game will be shown live on FSN South.

N.C. State (8-6) has won four straight heading into a visit from Clemson (7-8) in the ACC debut of new Tiger coach Itoro Coleman.

And UNC (14-0) will face its toughest road test of the season so far when the Tar Heels visit Georgia Tech (12-4), which has won nine straight after three losses to ranked opponents.
