UNC will be playing for the championship of a holiday tournament tonight, while N.C. State is heading home after finishing last in another one.

Italee Lucas’ 25 points led four players in double figures for the 14th-ranked Tar Heels as they crushed Illinois 87-58 in the quarterfinals of the Rainbow Wahine Shootout in Honolulu. UNC will take on Hawaii for the title at 12:01 Monday morning EST.

Meanwhile in Reno, Nev., Leah Cotton came off the bench for a career-high 25 points as the Gophers topped NCSU 71-67 in the consolation game of the Nugget Classic.

UNC 87, Illinois 58
Waltiea Rolle had a double-double of 13 points and 12 rebounds for the Tar Heels (6-0).

Jessica Breland added 14 points and Chay Shegog 10 for UNC, which shot 43.8 percent to the losers’ 33.8 and won the rebound battle 48-34.

Alexis Burke had 18 points for Illinois (3-3), while Lydia McCully chipped in 13 and Karisma Penn 11.

Minnesota 71, N.C. State 67
Katie Loberg added 15 points for Minnesota (4-3), while Kristen Dockery came off the bench for 12.

Bonae Holston led the Wolfpack (3-4) with 18 points while Brittany Strachan chipped in 11.

Minnesota outshot the Wolfpack 43.9 percent to 38.6.

State’s next game is Wednesday night at Illinois in the ACC/Big Ten Challenge.
