The Wolfpack is battling the cold, taking on host Nevada in the first round of the Nugget Classic in Reno, Nev. It’s the first meeting between the two schools.

San Diego State will take on Minnesota in the other first-round game Friday afternoon.

Meanwhile the No. 14 Tar Heels are in Honolulu to take on winless Washington State in the first round of the Rainbow Wahine Showdown. The Tar Heels will play either Long Beach State or Illinois in the semifinal round on Saturday, with the title game on Sunday.
