The Wolfpack forced five turnovers, one of them a 43-yard interception return for a touchdown from C.J. Wilson, to improve to 2-0 for the first time in Tom O’Brien’s four seasons at the helm.

State led 21-0 and then 28-7 before the Knights — who had spoiled O’Brien’s Wolfpack debut in Raleigh three years ago — came back and threatened to tie or take the lead

True freshman Jeff Godfrey led the comeback, taking over for Rob Calabrese midway through the third quarter and scoring two touchdowns while completing seven of 10 passes for 107 yards.

State had only 239 yards total offense. Russell Wilson hit Darrell Davis on a 21-yard scoring pass, while Mustafa Greene had a 21-yard scoring run and Dean Haynes found the end zone from four yards out.

Russell Wilson completed 10 of 29 passes for 105 yards and was not intercepted on a night the Wolfpack committed no turnovers.
