The Durham Bulls dropped their fourth straight game, falling 7-6 to the Rochester Red Wings when the hosts scored twice with two out in the 11th. And the Carolina Mudcats fell 4-2 to the Mobile BayBears, the Mudcats’ second straight loss and 13th in their last 14 games.
The Bulls will play twice more at Rochester, and then get a day off before opening an eight-game homestand on Thursday against the Scranton/Wilkes-Barre Yankees. The Mudcats will play Mobile one more time, then have an off-day before returning home on Wednesday night against the Chattanooga Lookouts.
Brock Peterson’s bloop single off Winston Abreu gave the Red Wings the comeback win in extras.
The Bulls had taken the lead with two out in the top of the frame when Ryan Shealy smacked a two-out RBI double off winner Rob Delaney (4-1).
Durham had led 5-0 after four innings, but didn’t get another hit until the 11th inning. Dan Johnson had a three-run homer and Elliot Johnson added a two-run shot for the Bulls.
Jake Wald and Ricardo Sosa had RBI singles in the seventh inning, lifting the BayBears to victory over Carolina.
Kris Negron homered for the Mudcats.
Kyler Newby (1-1) was the winning pitcher while Daryl Harang (1-2) took the loss.
The Mudcats had a couple of roster moves on Sunday as Alexander Smit was sent to the rookie-level Billings roster, making room for Travis Webb who was promoted from Lynchburg to make his Double-A debut today.
