UNC has made a habit of dealing out impressive whippings to visiting teams this season, but this time the Tar Heels were on the other end of it.
They found out there's a lot of space between No. 7 and No. 1 in women's basketball right now, falling 88-47 at Connecticut as the Huskies won their 54th straight game.
The nationally televised contest was not pretty, as three UConn players had double-doubles and no Tar Heel even hit double figures. She'la White (pictured), who hit three first-half 3-pointers, led UNC (13-2) with nine points.
Tina Charles had all 25 of her points before halftime and had 13 rebounds to lead the defending NCAA champion Huskies (15-0).
Tiffany Hayes added 15 points for Connecticut, while Maya Moore chipped in 12 points and 10 rebounds and Kalana Greene added 11 points and 10 rebounds.
Laura Broomfield had 10 rebounds for UNC.
UNC's next game is at Virginia Tech on Thursday night before the Tar Heels return to Carmichael Auditorium on Jan. 17 against Maryland.
Connecticut will make a visit to the Triangle this season, taking on Duke at Cameron Indoor Stadium on Jan. 18.
