Duke's Joy Cheek is one of 30 candidates for the Lowe's Senior CLASS women's basketball award, given to student-athletes who excel both on and off the court.
Cheek is one of two ACC players on the list along with Virginia's Monica Wright, and one of two from North Carolina schools along with Western Carolina's Kristen Feemster.
Cheek, a forward from Charlotte, has started in 40 games for the Blue Devils over the past two seasons. She averaged 8.5 points, 4.7 rebounds and 1.3 steals per game last season. She also interned at the White House this summer, working in the Office of the Vice President and Economic Policy.
The list of nominations will be trimmed to 10 midway through the season, with the winner announced at the NCAA Women's Final Four in San Antonio in April.
