Pedro Alvarez' team-record three home runs led the barrage as Team USA drubbed Chinese Taipei 14-3
The Red, White and Blue scored seven runs in the first inning of the contest, which was stopped after seven innings because of a 10-run mercy rule.
Former Durham Bull Jon Weber, Terry Tiffee and Lucas May each added home runs for the winners.
Todd Redmond (2-0) was the winning pitcher, striking out six while allowing three runs in six innings.
Alvarez (pictured) finished the game with six RBI. Weber went 3-for-4 with three RBI and three runs scored.
The USA's next game is against Australia today at 2 p.m. (EDT) in Piacenza, Italy, with Trevor Reckling (1-0) the scheduled starter.
