Former Duke basketball standout has a new job across town.

Robert Brickey, who spent last season as assistant director of basketball operations for the Duke women's team under Coach Joanne P. McCallie, has been named an assistant men's coach at N.C. Central to complete new Eagle head coach LeVelle Moton's staff.

Brickey was previously head coach at Shaw from 2005-08 after stints as an assistant at James Madison, SMU and Army. He also served as community outreach for Mike Krzyzewski's Blue Devils from 1999-2000.

A Fayetteville native who has a political science degree from Duke, Brickey was first-team All-ACC Tournament in 1988 and team captain as a senior in 1990. He was a member of three Final Four teams and started the NCAA championship game in 1990, finishing his career with 1,299 points and 649 rebounds.

Moton, named head coach at his alma mater on March 25 to replace Henry Dickerson who is now an assistant at UNC Wilmington, retained former N.C. State assistant Ray Martin on his coaching staff.
