The Tar Heels dropped 16 3s on Maryland but the real bombs were dropped on the press after the game.
Roy Williams announced that Will Graves is suspended for the rest of the season, and that Marcus Ginyard will seek a medical redshirt for a fifth year of eligibility.
That certainly will be huge for next season, considering the Heels stand to lose Danny Green, Tyler Hansbrough, Bobby Frasor and Mike Copeland to graduation.
Not to mention the slew of juniors expected to declare for the draft -- Ty Lawson and Wayne Ellington.
As for this season, the Tar Heels' rotation is not nearly as impressive as advertised in the preseason.
With Tyler Zeller and now Ginyard for sure gone for the season, Frasor, Larry Drew and Ed Davis are the only guys playing significant minutes off the bench.
Now, Will Graves is suspended for the entire season for vague reasons and his status for 2009-2010 will be examined at a later date.
Ginyard's vaunted defense is sorely missed by the Tar Heels who have struggled on defense against Maryland Tuesday.
Graves, on the other hand, was developing as a potential scoring threat off the bench. His absence will be much more harmful since Ginyard was doubtful to be in basketball shape for the remainder of the season.
