This weekend, the Wake County Animal Center has twenty-five cats and thirty dogs who need homes and are eligible for adoption at special rates.

These animals have been at the shelter or in foster homes for more than fourteen days, so it's a Long-timer Stars and Stripes Adoption Special. If you're able to give a kitty or a puppy a good home, head down to the center at 820 Beacon Lake Drive, Friday through Sunday to meet some potential pets.

The special rates are:

Dogs – $25

Dogs needing Spay/Neuter surgery – $45

Cats – $10

Cats needing Spay/Neuter surgery – $25
