U.S. Rep. David Price is on another congressional committee, this one with jurisdiction over the budget for the Environmental Protection Agency, the Interior Department, the U.S. Forest Service and similar agencies, his congressional office reports.
Price represents the Fourth Congressional District, which includes Durham, Orange and parts of Wake and Chatham counties.
In addition to the Appropriations Subcommittee on Interior, Environment and Related Agencies, Price also is chairman of Chairman of the Subcommittee on Homeland Security, and is a member of the Subcommittee on Transportation, Housing and Urban Development, and Related Agencies.
In the last eight years, President Bush consistently requested budget cuts for the EPA, including money for the agency's inspector general and EPA research libraries, sharply reducing transparency and the public's right to know.
Price's latest appointment is important because the National Institute of Environmental Health Sciences and the EPA’s largest research facility in the country are located in Research Triangle Park.
