This is going to be good.
The vice-presidential debate this Thursday, Oct. 2 between Joe Biden and Sarah Palin will either make your head explode or make you laugh your butt off. Here’s a list of Triangle-area debate-watching events, so you can share that experience with others.
Events are free, as far as we know, unless otherwise noted. Most start at 8 p.m., with the 90-minute televised face-off starting at 9 p.m.
At Legends Nightclub, a party sponsored by pro-choice and LGBT rights groups. Cash bar, plus a $5 cover that will serve as a shared donation to Planned Parenthood Action Fund, NARAL Pro-Choice North Carolina and Equality North Carolina.
119 S. Harrington St., Raleigh.
At Galaxy Cinema, there’s room for hundreds of people in front of the big screen. Free tickets; reservations recommended. Obama campaign staff will be there.
770 Cary Towne Boulevard, Cary.
At Ideas! Coffee House, another Obama gathering with light food available for sale.
5607 Hwy. 55, Durham (near RTP).
At The People’s Channel, a “watch and share” party with broadcast of public reaction live from the public access TV studio following the debate until 11 p.m. (You can also call 960-0089 to give on-air feedback.) BYO snacks and beverages. Volunteer crew is welcomed.
300-AC South Elliott Rd., Chapel Hill.
1116 Broad St., Durham.
If you know of more events, please add them to the comments.
*Seriously, if you're determined to throw back a shot every time Palin says "thanks but no thanks," arrange a designated driver or a cab, or snuggle up with C-SPAN.
