Dead & Company—the band of Grateful Dead alums Bob Weir, Mickey Hart, and Bill Kreutzmann, plus John Mayer— announced today in a Facebook post that they'll go ahead and play their scheduled show in Charlotte on June 10 as a protest against HB 2.
They also announced that they'll donate $100,000 to Equality NC and Human Rights Campaign and will host a "participation row" section of "local organizations fighting discrimination and national organizations dedicated to voter registration and protecting the planet."
"Dead shows have always been a safe place for all of our audience to come together through music no matter how they appear or self-identify," the band said in the statement.
"History shows these values of openness and inclusiveness have served us—and the world around us—well."
