In advance of May's third-annual Art of Cool Music Festival, the festival’s backbone organization, The Art of Cool Project, has upped its music-related programming. So far, that's included a benefit concert with Moogfest, a Mardi Gras party, Terence Blanchard-themed film screenings, a music-and-art hang at CAM Raleigh, a weekly YouTube “Honesty Hour” series, and even a dip into social activism with The Carrack Modern Art.

On Tuesday, March 15, The Art of Cool Project returns to The Carrack with a monthly residency dubbed Jam.Shop.Sip.Repeat. According to AOCP president Cicely Mitchell, “Music and shopping will collide.”

The two months of Jam.Shop.Sip.Repeat’s residency at The Carrack will act as a “scaled-down format” for the event’s larger AOCFEST version in May at the Durham Armory. Folks will be able to “shop with a diverse selection of juried vendors” to the sounds of local bands such as Zoocrü, The Beast, and Jim Ferris Trio.

“Art of Cool had its beginnings in intimate art galleries,” says Mitchell of the Carrack relationship. “We are going back to basics, to our roots. It’s a more social listening experience.”

Art of Cool is also participating in a contest where you can win VIP access to AOC, Moogfest, and Hopscotch this year. Enter by 5 p.m. Friday here.
