Last February, Raleigh's The Ritz re-opened as a Live Nation venue
after several drawn-out months of renovations. The 2,000-plus capacity space got a million-dollar facelift
, which allowed for an updated HVAC system, new sound and lighting equipment, plus several aesthetic updates to the bars and dressing rooms.
Almost exactly one year later, The Ritz has announced it will close again for additional changes, which a press release says will be related to the building's infrastructure. The final shows before the closure will be a two-night stand from Umphrey's McGee
, April 8–9. Those updates should be done by mid-June, but remember, the renovations meant to only take a month at the end of 2014 stretched for nearly three times that length
. Here's hoping the new schedule sticks.
In the coming days, The Ritz has Led Zeppelin 2, Carly Rae Jepsen, Kid Cudi and a rescheduled acoustic set from Breaking Benjamin.
