Moogfest to announce inaugural Durham lineup Tuesday

At last, we'll begin to get some answers to the many questions we—and a lot of folks in Durham—have had about the Bull City's inaugural Moogfest, set for May 19–22. Marisa Brickman, Moogfest's director, says the festival will announce its debut Durham lineup Tuesday, Dec. 8.

Moogfest, of course, relocated from Asheville after a series of financial and organizational fits and starts in the mountains. Its lineup should, at last, offer some indication of the scope of the festival and whether or not it will scale back after substantial losses in 2014 and to what extent it will focus on technology instead of sound, as some city leaders have suggested it will.

Of course, many other questions will remain for the festival during the coming months: What venues will it use? Who is sponsoring its pricy relocation? And what effect will Moogfest have on The Art of Cool, the Durham-born jazz festival that happens only two weeks earlier (and announced its own lineup in October)?

In other Moogfest-related news, the festival makes one of its first forays into Durham programming tomorrow with an event called Dial-Tones tomorrrow at The Shed. You can register here.
