There's news of another big cancelation from the Hopscotch Music Festival today.
set to headline tomorrow night at Fletcher Opera Theater, has scratched his show due to a family emergency. This is the latest in a string of cancelations
for this year's event, including Eyehategod, John Chantler and Mumdance last night. In each instance, though, the festival has recovered nicely, particularly with last night's choice to swap Eyehategod for Richmond's Iron Reagan.
The Pallett scenario follows that pattern: Hopscotch alumna Waxahatchee will step in for Pallett's Fletcher set tomorrow at midnight, playing a rather rare solo show that promises to be special. Pallett was also slated to be the festival's improviser in residence,
but drums-and-electronics wizard Greg Fox has stepped into that role wonderfully already. The Liturgy and Guardian Alien drummer played with Eartheater and Sannhet last night and is due on stage with Jefre Cantu-Ledesma this late afternoon. He's not quite certain of his other slots yet, but when I asked him this morning what he'd be up to tonight, he did offer this promising potential scenario: "Fingers crossed that TV on the Radio feels like getting weird, but no bets being hedged."
We'll see tonight, when TV on the Radio headlines Raleigh City Plaza.
