World Beer Festival

When: Sat., Oct. 6 2012

Lagers and ales, hops and malts. Doppelbock, hefeweizen, pilseners. It's October, and though there won't be many frauleins wearing dirndls in Durham, it's still the season to celebrate the end of the harvest and the commencement of long winter nights kept lively with our friend beer. All About Beer magazine returns with this daylong festival featuring hundreds of brewers. For $40, you'll get a 2-ounce tasting cup and four hours to try as much as your gut can tolerate. The day session begins at noon, the evening session at 6 p.m. Better hurry, though—VIP passes have sold out for the day session. Tickets for the hoi polloi are $40. —David Fellerath

Price: $45
