Woods Charter School Benefit: Robert Sledge & the Flashlight Assembly, The Harvey Dalton Arnold Blues Band, Great Big Gone

When: Fri., June 4, 8 p.m. 2010

Bassist extraordinaire Robert Sledge (International Orange, Ben Folds Five) takes his latest musical endeavor out of the cupboard and onto the stage for the second time in a month, baiting hopes that they might become more of a fixture around town. Harvey Dalton Arnold knows his own way around the bass, having played it for The Outlaws at their height in the late '70s. After surviving cancer, Arnold has returned to his first love. His strong baritone ranges through smoldering country-blues, blues swing and fiery Chicago-style electric blues. Opener Great Big Gone is led by Janet Place and favors a mix of anything that the word Americana might conjure. Profits go to the parent-founded, free Woods Charter School. —Chris Parker
