RALEIGH
SWEET CHARITY
Progress Energy Center—The best-loved redhead of the '80s is coming to Raleigh. Molly Ringwald, star of John Hughes' hits Sixteen Candles, Pretty in Pink and The Breakfast Club is starring in Broadway's Sweet Charity, playing the role of Charity, the naïve dance hall hostess whose heart-of-gold keeps ending up in the wrong hands. Sweet Charity is a playful musical comedy based on the book by Neil Simon, the playwright whose impressive list of works include Barefoot in the Park, The Odd Couple and Lost in Yonkers, for the latter of which he won a Pulitzer Prize. With music by the Broadway composer, Cy Coleman and lyricist Dorothy Fileds ("On the Sunny Side of the Street," "The Way You Look Tonight"), and choreography by Tony Award-winner Wayne Cilento, Sweet Charity is a musical for anyone who has ever felt like a fool. The show runs May 29 through June 3. For more info, visit www.progressenergycenter.com or call 831-6060. —Megan Stein
