Dr. James Tabor

Quail Ridge Books & Music--A professor at UNC-Charlotte since 1989, Dr. James Tabor heads the school's Department of Religous Studies. The introductory materials for his latest work, The Jesus Dynasty, claims it is "a book that will change our understanding of one of the most crucial moments in history." Tabor's work is an insightful attempt to re-humanize Jesus and to put his work in the larger political and social climes of his own time. Tabor claims that Jesus never intended for his teachings to emigate outward from Israel, and that only Paul spread his teachings to the Roman Empire and beyond. Tabor reads from his book and discusses his research--including, perhaps, his Israeli archeological digs and his research on Waco--at 7 p.m.
