Ann Ross

Quail Ridge Books & Music--The back cover of Miss Julia's School of Beauty calls its Southern protagonist both "the original steel magnolia" and the "Dixie doyenne of decorum." Julia, of course, was the star of Ross' Miss Julia Stands Her Ground, but she's married now and back from her eloping excursion, struggling to keep her marriage in place and her family in order. A triple option. Go at 7 p.m. for the plot, the steel magnolia nostalgia or the three-d alliteration involving the highly underrated word doyenne--it's all the same.

Dexter's Talk Show

The Cave--Legendary primal rocker Dexter Romweber is the star of his very own documentary these days, and, if that movie, two headed cow, proves anything, it's that he's absolutely choked with entirely fascinating things to say. That's why this 7:30 p.m. Cave talk show may be amazing. TV Knife and Heroes Severum rock, post-talk, at 10 p.m. --Grayson Currin
