Jamie Foxx

Durham Performing Arts Center—Though it's a bit of a stretch, one could at least argue that Academy Award winner Jamie Foxx has maneuvered his way through showbiz like no other entertainer since Sammy Davis Jr. Between movies, television, stand-up comedy, hosting a ridiculous show on Sirius XM, having the No. 1 record in the country and making out with Halle Berry onstage at this year's Spike's Guys Choice Awards (OK, now you're just flaunting), Foxx is a true multitalented threat. And with so many talents, there's no telling what this guy has up his sleeve when he steps in front of an audience or camera. Shelling out $58-$78 at 7:30 p.m. to find out exactly what he'll pull tonight will likely be worth every penny. Visit —Eric Tullis

Tad Dreis

Busy Bee Cafe—Don't let the harmonica fool you: Tad Dreis isn't simply a folkie. Instead, the veteran Chapel Hill songwriter uses his acoustic guitar and bluesy harp as vehicles for effortless pop tunes dosed with the same brand of charming lyricism that gave quirk-rock kingpins Presidents of the United States of America a career. Though Dreis makes irreverent nods to parking-lot road kill and suggestive Cosmo covers, he does so only to obscure his disposition as a hopeless romantic who makes the act of cleaning his girlfriend's apartment sound fulfilling. The show is free and begins at 9 p.m. Visit —Spencer Griffith
