Stars of Track & Field
Local 506—Compromises tend to accumulate like toxins in your body. It's one explanation for Stars of Track & Field's third album,
A Time For Lions. In the intervening years since 2006's
Centuries Before Love and War, their electronic-addled dream pop transformed into a toxic modern rock spill. Think a collision of Train's constipated anthems with Coldplay's symphonic pap. Initially inspired by Belle & Sebastian (whose trademark song provided their name), they transitioned from their twee pop debut to elegant, swirling electro-pop shimmer when their bassist's departure made them a trio. The hope is that the spark illuminating their first two discs hasn't yet been smothered by their time on Creed's label, Wind-up. Find out at 9 p.m. for $8. See
