DISCOVERY AND ILL DIGITZ PRESENT: WE LOVE THE '90s

KINGS, RALEIGH

SATURDAY, JULY 11

From flattops to Cross Colours, '90s nostalgia lands large in Rick Famuyiwa's new Dope, which follows the misadventures of three straight-laced teenaged "90's hip-hop geeks" from Inglewood. If the film is as touching as its glowing reviews have suggested, you might dig your old Discman out of storage so that you can play the CD version of its soundtrack, which features classic party jams like Digital Underground's "The Humpty Dance" and Naughty By Nature's "Hip Hop Hooray." Better yet, you could just party your ass off at this annual nod to the decade that birthed The Macarena, Tootsie Roll and whatever it is you do for glam house music. As Teddy Riley might ask, don't you wanna zooma-zoom-zoom and boom-boom? Bring your rump shaker to Raleigh, and fulfill your wish. 9 p.m., $7, 14 W. Martin St., Raleigh, 919-833-1091, www.kingsbarcade.com.Eric Tullis

Price: $7
