"Voices From the Grave"

When: Fri., Oct. 29, 7-10 p.m. 2010

Old Chapel Hill Cemetery—As countless teens will tell you, graveyards are notoriously full of ghosts, though it is difficult to actually see one. The undead come to life tonight though, by the powers of the Chapel Hill Preservation Society and Deep Dish Theater. This guided walking tour through the cemetery examines the history of some of Chapel Hill's most famous and infamous citizens, from former slaves to World War II soldiers to victims of unsolved murders. The cemetery, begun in 1798 with the burial of a UNC student, is in need of upkeep. Proceeds go to the Preservation Society, and $10 advance tickets are required; call 942-7818 or e-mail chpreservation@mindspring.com for reservations (as of 3 p.m. on Thursday, tickets are sold out!). Tours begin every 15 minutes between 7 and 10 p.m. and are not recommended for children under age 12. —Lauren Shute
