Unexposed

When: Mon., Oct. 20 2014

THE PIT—In June, we reported on Unexposed, a new film screening series run by experimental documentarians Brendan and Jeremy Smyth, which is just finishing its first year of bringing together abstract short films, their creators and intimate audiences—first in a barn, now at The Pit. Yes, The Pit. Durham Cinematheque's Tom Whiteside, who knows from throwing projector beams in unusual places, says of the Smyth twins in a press release, "Somehow they have crafted the idea that it is good business to show experimental film at a barbecue restaurant. This is an idea with which I am totally down." (The twins work at the restaurant.) At Unexposed No. 8, Whiteside gets down with some nervy films he made in the '80s, also promising "direct animation soft flickers, landscapes chromatic and silent and one loud commercial cut-up." 8 p.m., free, 321 W.
