Two Noble Kinsmen | Raleigh Little Theatre | Stage | Indy Week

Two Noble Kinsmen

When: Thursdays-Sundays. Continues through May 31 2014

The Two Noble Kinsmen is Shakespeare's late-career collaboration with John Fletcher, who followed him as house playwright for the King's Men. It's based on the "Knight's Tale" from Chaucer's The Canterbury Tales. Two princely cousins fall in love with the same woman and enter a high-stakes contest for her hand. But here, the plot is secondary to the production. The play is rarely seen in the traditional fashion, much less like this, with a combination of actors and circus acrobats, shadow puppets and pyrotechnics. A collaboration between Bare Theatre, Raleigh Little Theatre and Raleigh-based circus school Cirque de Vol Studios, it reunites the creative firepower behind last summer's similarly spectacular take on The Comedy of Errors. Enjoy exhilarating battle scenes and gouts of flame in an outdoor setting with director G. Todd Buker's bombastic Bard, with five shows through May 31. —Brian Howe
