Two Door Cinema Club, Clap Your Hands Say Yeah, Bad Veins

When: Mon., June 11, 9 p.m. 2012

This brief tour pairs two indie rock acts from opposite sides of the pond and opposite ends of the hype trajectory. Northern Ireland's Two Door Cinema Club is still riding the wave of buzz that followed 2010's Tourist History—the trio's first record—while Brooklyn's Clap Your Hands Say Yeah has seen its stock fade since the quintet's much-heralded 2005 debut. Like a poor man's Phoenix or a more guitar-oriented Postal Service, Two Door Cinema Club garnered acclaim for glossy pop in which Alex Trimble's airy vocals ride infectious electronic beats. Meanwhile, last year's Hysterical—Clap Your Hands' third effort—found the group ditching the experimentation of its sophomore album and reverting to the formula of its successful self-titled platter, delivering solid anthems as appealing as they are forgettable. Cincinnati duo Bad Veins opens with danceable, hook-a-minute and ultimately underrated post-punk. The 8 p.m. show is sold out. —Spencer Griffith
