Kinky Boots

Colony Theatre--Why did we ever think the Brits were uptight anyway? They've been telling about their drag queens ever since Van Morrison sang of Madame George down on Cypress Avenue, with a childlike vision leaping into view, clicking, clacking of the high heeled shoe. In Kinky Boots, Chiwetel Ejiofor (who made such an impression in Dirty Pretty Things) stars as a transvestite who just might have the key to saving a boot factory in Northhamptonshire. Now playing at your favorite art house. --David Fellerath

C is for Communism

Kings--M stands for murder, V for vendetta and, with A/V Geeks, C is for Communism. Titles include What is Communism? and Yankee Go Home. The night of Cold War terror begins at 9 p.m. Bring your own desk to hide under. --David Fellerath

Chapel Hill

Window to the Humanities: Visions of the Feast

Ackland Art Museum--This exhibit, focusing on social, ethical and cultural aspects of feasting through five different themes, enters its last two weeks. Curated by UNC-Chapel Hill professor Inger Brodey, the installation explores philosophy, art and fiction and their cultural links to food through mixed media.
