QUAIL RIDGE BOOKS AND MUSIC—Photography by the blind? Sounds like a coarse joke or hackneyed subplot in a bad art film. But wait—the photography in Tony Deifell's book, Seeing Beyond Sight: Photographs by Blind Teenagers is worth considering. The previews on Deifell's Web site (www.seeingbeyondsight.org) are personal and compelling, recalling the off-kilter visions of Meatyard, Mann and Arbus. Deifell will be participating in a book signing that will include a conversation with Shirley Hand and Dan Partridge who, along with author, taught photography at Governor Morehead School for the Blind.
