Triangle Folk Jam

When: Mon., Feb. 6, 7:30 p.m. 2012

Casual and professional musicians alike can attest that there comes a point when lurking in your living room playing one tired song to a party of none loses its charm. To be rock star of your own domain is flattering for a time, but to share the joy of music in a crowd of friendly faces can be energizing. That's the hope of the Triangle Folk Jam, which has been active in the area for more than a decade. With an open format and a commitment to playing and singing music of all sorts—"including, but not limited to, folk, blues, bluegrass, traditional, old-time, country, country rock," they claim—there's bound to be a place in the jam for that dusty old zither. Or were you thinking of revisiting the harp? Maybe easing in with some straightforward guitar? Whatever your poison, admission is free. —Ashley Melzer
