TRIANGLE BRASS BAND'S BRASSMAS

LICHTIN PLAZA @ DUKE ENERGY CENTER FOR THE PERFORMING ARTS, RALEIGH

SATURDAY, DEC. 6

The Triangle Brass Band's Brassmas isn't a normal concert. Rather, for area brass players, it's a casual opportunity to convene with fellow performers from different ensembles and backgrounds for an afternoon of holiday music, as musicians of all skill levels are invited to participate in the flash-fanfare. The group meets in Cary to rehearse for a few hours before relocating to downtown Raleigh where they present the program later that evening. For those who only want to listen, the grand performance takes place outside of the Duke Energy Center for Performing Arts; be prepared to face the weather, but only briefly, as the program lasts a brisk 25 minutes. If you're at Raleigh's WinterFest, the brass band should make for a nice break from the festival's bluegrass-heavy programming. See page 43 for more on WinterFest. 6:50 p.m, free, 2 E. South St., 919-996-7800, www.trianglebrass.org. —Allison Hussey
