Harper Lee's one-hit wonder is a great Southern novel that kids and former kids everywhere have read. The book is on its 50th-anniversary year, and while Lee has eschewed public memorials, Burning Coal Theatre will unveil its own staging of the novel, as adapted two decades ago by Christopher Sergel. The production, which features a number of visiting Equity actors, opens tonight and continues through Sept. 26th. Hillsborough novelist Allan Gurganus will speak on the novel's lasting impact on Sept. 18 at 6 p.m. Visit www.burningcoal.org. —Sarah Ewald
