Tim Meadows

When: Jan. 17-19 2013

For a whole decade, Tim Meadows was basically known as that other black guy on Saturday Night Live. He spent all of the '90s on the long-running sketch show, practically serving as the non-threatening yin to the more aggressive yangs of fellow African-American cast members Chris Rock and Tracy Morgan. (The show always seemed to call on Meadows to play black characters who could mingle well with white folk.) During his tenure, he scored with his own recurring character, the Afro-sporting sex-advice dispenser Leon "The Ladies Man" Phelps. (Like so many SNL characters, Phelps later appeared on the big screen, in a movie called, of course, The Ladies Man.) These days, Meadows is following the path of such former SNLers as Jon Lovitz and Chris Kattan, touring the country doing stand-up. He'll perform Thursday at 8:30 p.m. and Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and 10:15 p.m. —Craig D. Lindsey

Price: $20-30
