DELTA MOON
HIDEAWAY BBQ—The two slide guitarists of Decatur, Ga.'s Delta Moon complement each other more than duel one another, giving the band's tales of Southern lore, whiskey and wisdom grooves constantly in motion. Delta Moon vacillates between ragged electric juke numbers and leather-skin, tender-soul ballads, though thanks to Mark Johnson's gritty, bottleneck leads and Tom Gray's smoke-cured, scrap-and-bone voice, both formats sound born of tenacity and wisdom. Think an aggressive John Hiatt, just with more tales than lessons. Pay $5 at 8:30 p.m. —Grayson Currin

J-RODDY WALSTON & THE BUSINESS
SLIM'S—Slim's Downtown's radar is just better than yours: Take J-Roddy Walston & the Business, a Baltimore (by way of the wilds of Tennessee) quartet that sounds like the Faces at their rip-roaringest as fronted by Harry Nilsson at his hanging out with John Lennon-est. Slim's found them. You didn't. Pay up. The cover is $3, and the relentless musical barrage commences at 10 p.m. —Rick Cornell
