Band of Horses
Lincoln Theatre—Of the Pacific Northwest when they dropped their Everything All the Time debut last year to critical clamor, guitars-and-drums dramatists Band of Horses relocated to front man Ben Bridwell's homeland of South Carolina late last year. Follow-up Cease to Begin is neither brilliant nor consistent, but there's still magic in Bridwell's reverb-and-echo tinged voice: When he flits from flatline to falsetto, it's possible to believe most anything. With The Drones. Tickets are $15-$17 for a 9 p.m. start. —Grayson Currin

Blotter benefit
Blue Bayou—"F.J. Ventre, Taz Halloween and Jay of the Blue Bayou are all long-time good friends of the Blotter, and we're really grateful to them for doing this show," offers Martin K. Smith, Blotter's president and publisher. A night of golden age sounds from Ventre's Edsel 500 and self-described "beer 'n' grits music" from Halloween's Kitty Box & the Johnnies is a swell fit with the Blotter's mix of underground and outsider art. The music starts at 9 p.m. —Rick Cornell
