The Trip

When: Thu., June 21, 7 p.m. 2012

Foodies and art lovers, rejoice. The Nasher's film series "Summer Days, Nasher Nights: Dinner and a Movie," in partnership with Duke University's Screen/ Society, pairs dinner specials in the museum's cafe with a free food-obsessed film in the auditorium. This month it's The Trip (2010), a British mockumentary romp directed by Michael Winterbottom and starring Steve Coogan and Rob Brydon. Coogan has the enviable newspaper assignment to tour the fine restaurants of the Lake District and Yorkshire Dales, but he can't find a friend to accompany him. The delightfully aggravating Brydon is his last resort. The film is full of that inimitable British bickering, as well as wry impersonations of celebs such as Michael Caine, Woody Allen and Liam Neeson, as the pair eat and eye-roll their way through the hilarious trip. Cinematographer Ben Smithard drew particular praise for wide shots of the countryside and mouthwatering shots of the food. The cafe opens at 5 p.m.; free movie begins at 7 p.m. in the auditorium. —Chris Vitiello
