Saturday Night Live grads Bill Hader and Kristen Wiig flex their acting muscles in dramatic roles. This indie dramedy has the pair playing estranged twins who reconnect after attempting suicide at the same time, thousands of miles apart. Whatever cloying, contrived missteps co-writer and director Craig Johnson makes in mapping out his middlebrow narrative, Hader and Wiig make up for it with wonderful performances. They do what they spent years perfecting on SNL: bring out unforeseen layers in their characters, no matter how silly or ridiculous.
