The Princess and the Warrior (Der Krieger und die Kaiserin)

Directed by Tom Tykwer (Run Lola Run), this German film improbably unites two people (Bodo, a man running from the scene of a bank heist, and Sissi, who's just been pinned under a truck in an accident he's caused) in a series of bizarre, seemingly fated coincidences. When Bodo saves her life, even accompanying her to the hospital in the ambulance (as much to elude the police as to be with her), then abruptly disappears, Sissi is consumed with finding him. A psychiatric nurse, she even enlists the help of a blind psychic asylum inmate in her efforts to trace her rescuer. The narrative unfolds through the characters' differing points of view: Sissi feels she is fated to be with Bodo; he is equally sure that's he's not the man for the job. Starring Franka Potente (Run Lola Run) as Sissi and Benno Furmann as Bodo. See "Movie Listings" for theaters.
