RIALTO THEATRE—You might not know this 1921 Swedish silent film, but you've likely heard of the films it inspired. Ingmar Bergman credited it as the main influence for the Death sequences in The Seventh Seal, and cast its director/star Victor Sjöström as the lead in Wild Strawberries. Sjöström's morality tale portrays him as an alcoholic visited by Death's carriage on New Year's Eve, where he is forced to look back on the destructiveness of his selfish life. Sjöström is called "The Father of Swedish Cinema" by some, and this atmospheric tale is one of the main reasons why. Check it out as part of The Cinema, Inc. subscription series. 7 p.m., $20 (one-year The Cinema, Inc. subscription), 1620 Glenwood Ave., 919-856-0111, www.ambassadorcinemas.com. —Zack Smith
