Bollywood movies have always been known for their flash and dazzle, but there is also a Hindi language "parallel cinema;" what we would call an "art house movie." This film fits squarely into that category. It's built on the premise of one little routing error in an intricate lunch delivery system leading to an intimate connection between a harried young wife and mother and a lonely widower. Misdelivered notes lead to new possibilities for two people trapped by society in unfulfilling roles. Western viewers may be impatient for less yearning and more decisive action, but the hesitant emotions of the two main characters ring true. A touching romance, it earned acclaim at both the Cannes and Telluride Film Festivals.
