PSI THEATRE—"The Female Body has many uses," Margaret Atwood writes. "It's been used as a door-knocker, a bottle-opener, as a clock with a ticking belly ... as a nutcracker, just squeeze the brass legs together and out comes your nut." Choreographer Lauren Kearns' new dance-theater work, A Hot Topic of Conversation, imagines Atwood's incisive and hilarious essay on the female form as a TED Talk, a PBS nature show, a late-night infomercial and a twisted version of Survivor. Her company's regional premiere at the Durham Arts Council includes an addled tribute to superheroes and two repertory works, Swinging on a Bench and Twister. 7:30 p.m., $10–$15, 120 Morris St., 919-560-2787, www.thekearnsdanceproject.org. —Byron Woods

Price: $10-$15
