Here's what The Indy was writing about the week of Dec. 3:
5 years ago: Patrick O'Neill followed the story of demonstrators planning to risk arrest at a protest at the School of Americas. Most of the Chapel Hill citizens attending were veterans of civil disobedience and dedicated their lives to social change.
10 years ago: Barry Yeoman reported on the lack of protection middle class citizens have from the whims of landlords. Though some tactics, such as forcing tenants from their homes to make more money, were not illegal, they were certainly unethical.
20 years ago: Dee Reid investigated the state's controversial proposal to mine 15,000 acres of peat bogs in Washington County. Critics believed the plan would destroy the delicate ecosystem on which the fish nurseries for the Atlantic Seaboard survive.
