The Importance of Being Earnest

When: April 12-28 2013

I say! It's a bit of a rum punch to see Oscar Wilde's classic comedy of manners produced locally, eh old chap? I should dare presume that this tale of mistaken identity and class conflict should contain many a delightful rejoinder and cracking wit. I've been told to mention that those who enjoy the Dowager Countess on Downton Abbey should be notified she owes a debt to Wilde's Lady Bracknell, who was portrayed by Abbey's Maggie Smith on the stage in the 1990s. A hearty laugh will likely be enjoyed by those who attend Friday's 8 p.m. opening performance, though it is unlikely Raleigh Little Theatre will provide finger sandwiches for intermission. Bother! —Zack Smith
