The Huckleberry Brothers

When: Sun., April 11, 3-4 p.m. 2010

You know this is coming, so let's get it out of the way: The Huckleberry Brothers party like it's 1799. The 10-musician band—roots in the American Civil War re-enactor community—was formed for the members to explore and share their interest in the ballads and tunes of the 1700s and the 1800s up through the Civil War. The group's goal is to remain faithful to how the songs in its vast repertoire were originally presented. Mission accomplished, thanks to concertina, tin whistle, bones, five-string banjo and other period-appropriate instruments. The toe-tapping history lesson starts at 3 p.m., and it's free.
