The Heidi Chronicles

When: April 5-21, 7:30 p.m. 2013

The late, great Wendy Wasserstein was known for her powerful, funny plays about women in identity crisis. The Heidi Chronicles, which won both the Pulitzer Prize and the Tony Award for Best Play in 1989, keeps with that theme, tracking Heidi Holland from a high school student in the 1960s to a successful art historian two decades later. Along the way, Heidi struggles to find her place as a woman in a changing world. An exploration of feminism and growing up, The Heidi Chronicles is first and foremost a play about discovering oneself. Two decades after it premiered, it's still timely. Performances continue through April 21. —Emma Miller
