The Fox Fire, Flesh & Stone

When: Sun., June 2, 8 p.m. 2013

Clearly inspired by the slick folk of The Lumineers and Mumford & Sons, The Fox Fire's polished harmonies and driving rhythms sound familiar. The young Brevard, N.C., quartet uses acoustic instruments—guitar, banjo, mandolin and upright bass—as rock implements, but they also draw upon their western Carolina roots, picking solos and interjecting banjo rolls between romantic ballads and upbeat odes to home. Gastonia guitar and cello duo Flesh & Stone's elegant folk orchestrations are reminiscent of The Swell Season, sans the co-ed vocals. —Spencer Griffith
